The Clean Air, Healthy Communities program aimed to address air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in NSW. It sought to raise our awareness and understanding of the importance of clean air to individuals and the community and actions to improve our air quality.
The program was provided with $5 million over three years by the NSW Environmental Trust. The Office of Environment and Heritage(OEH) coordinated the program which delivered a range of projects designed to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mostly by reducing emissions from transport.
Projects promoted sustainable urban transport; cleaner fleets; new emission reducing technologies in vehicles and at petrol stations; alternatives to car travel; emissions reduction technology for older diesel vehicles and the efficient use of solid fuel for heating.
The results of these programs are benefiting our health, our communities and our environment.
